About This Site
はじめまして!It's me, Mrs. Baum from Sam Brannan Middle School. This is a page that I created for my students to get information about anime, manga, and our school anime club. I hope you enjoy! Please feel free to post questions, art, and comments. This site will get bigger as time goes by, so please be patient and come back soon. ^_^

Below is a link to our school's awesome website where you can get. . .
* an Anime Club application
* the Beginning Anime course syllabus
* the Advanced Anime course syllabus

Links Here are some links that you might enjoy. When I checked these sites, they were all kid safe. Please let me know if something has changed.

• Usagi-chan’s Genki Resource: a great resource for learning and practicing Japanese. You can play games with the hiragana and katakana alphabet, study Japenese vocabulary, learn kanji, print flashcards, and even see a demonstration on the stroke order of every hiragana and katakana letter. Highly recommended.

• Japanese-Online.com: Another free webpage with loads of Japanese lessons.

You won't be able to access these next two sites from school because they have the word "manga" in their title. Our school search engine blocks anything with manga or game in the address. You can access these just fine from home.

• How to Draw Manga Free Tutorials: Free manga art lessons.
Address: http://www.howtodrawmanga.com/tutorial.html

• Polykarbon Tutorials: Another great website with manga art tutorials and also some great advice on what art supplies to get. There is lots of information on how to take your art to the next level and use PhotoShop. Finally, there is also a small section of Japanese writing.

Some Interesting Books

There are tons of great books on how to draw anime and manga. Here are a few titles that my students enjoy.

Katy Coope How to Draw Manga

Katy Coope, How to Draw More Manga

Gen Sato, How to Draw Manga: Super Deformed Characters Volume 1

Christopher Hart, Manga Mania Shoujo

Christopher Hart Cartoon Cool (This isn't actually a book on how to draw manga. It's a book on how to draw retro-styled cartoons like Dexter.

Hidefumi Okuama, Let's Draw Manga: Nnja and Samurai

Tadashi Ozawa, How to Draw Anime and Game Characters, Volume 3 Bringing Daily Actions to Life
